Europ Assistance Australia (EAA) has achieved a significant milestone by obtaining a general insurer licence, enabling the company to underwrite its own travel insurance products.
This development underscores EAA's dedication to the Australian market and its travellers.

Previously, EAA's travel insurance offerings were underwritten by Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Company. With the new licence, EAA gains the flexibility to design and deliver products that closely align with the specific needs and preferences of Australian travellers. This strategic move is expected to enhance the relevance and modernity of their insurance solutions.

Hassen Bennour, CEO of Europ Assistance Asia-Pacific, highlighted the importance of this achievement, stating that Australia is a strategic market for the company. He emphasized that the licence allows EAA to bring the full strength of its global capabilities to local travellers, reinforcing their commitment to providing comprehensive care.

In 2022, EAA expanded its presence in Australia and New Zealand through the acquisition of InsureandGo and Tick. The company also offers traveller medical and emergency services, supporting over 1.3 million travellers from the region through its global assistance network last year. With a local team of more than 200 members, EAA is well-positioned to deliver prompt and effective assistance to travellers in need.

Justin Sebire, CEO of EAA, expressed that securing the licence strengthens their ability to deliver on their mission to bring travellers from distress to relief with greater speed, care, and accountability. This development is expected to provide Australian travellers with more tailored and responsive insurance solutions, enhancing their overall travel experience.
